Since the beginning of February, I have relied heavily on public transportation for my daily commute. Everyone assured me that public transportation in Spain is reliable, consistent, and safe. And I agreed with them — at first.
After exactly 2 weeks of riding the same daily bus, the bus system added new stops in a different part of town. At first glance, the plan looked great because one of the new stops is only 1 block from where I live, which meant that I could sleep an extra 10 minutes every morning.
The problem, however, is that the bus drivers haven’t fully learned the new route. More than once this week, the drivers have missed a turn, and we’ve circled back to the new route.
Then on Friday morning, the bus never arrived.
As I waited on the street, getting more and more frustrated about the situation, the Holy Spirit prompted me to think on “whatsoever things are true” (Phil. 4:8).
So, beginning with the letter A, I mentally listed truths about God.
- God is Almighty.
- He makes all things Beautiful in His time.
- He Cares for us.
As I continued through the alphabet, these truths started centering on the idea of God’s faithfulness.
- God is Sufficient.
- He is Trustworthy.
- He is Unchanging and Unshakable.
This morning, I came to the conclusion that God is more faithful than the bus system in Spain.
Bus drivers may forget to turn, but God doesn’t forget His people. Busses may break down, but God is everlasting. And I may occasionally run late and miss the bus, but God is never late.
Next time that the Holy Spirit reminds me to think on true things, I will have one more truth to remember for the letter R. God is Reliable (much more reliable than the Spanish bus system)!
im assuming the bus did arrive since you played volleyball.

No, it never came. I stood at the stop for about 40 minutes this morning, so it’s safe to say that it wasn’t just running a few minutes behind. Thankfully, I was able to contact another teacher, and she drove me to school.

Bus stories are always good! To remember, but not so much at the time! I love your ABC thing! So true!
