In about seven weeks, I will be boarding a plane for Madrid. I must say, after nearly 18 months of praying, planning, and preparing to move to Spain, the events of the past few weeks have made the adventure feel really real. Spain is no longer a place that I am just talking about. It’s the place where I will live in fewer than 50 days.
Just last week, my mission board granted partial financial clearance for me to serve in Spain from January to May 2021, with the understanding that I can extend that term as more financial support is provided.
This news instigated a snowball of events that must be completed before I can move. I’ve had conversations with my boss to determine my final day in the office (which will be December 16), and I spoke to my landlords about moving out of my precious little apartment at the end of December. Some of my clothes have migrated from my closet to the bags under my bed where they await their journey to Goodwill. Travelocity is now one of the most-visited websites on my laptop because the price of airline tickets changes almost daily. My phone regularly pings with texts from friends and family who I want to see before I leave. And those of you who know me best won’t be surprised to learn that I made multiple spreadsheets to help keep everything organized as I pack.
Thank you all for your prayers as I continue on this adventure! My specific prayer requests for the next few weeks are:
- That God will continue to provide financial support according to His sovereign plan so that I can extend the duration of my term in Spain.
- That I will clearly present the need in Spain and that my interactions will glorify God as I continue to visit churches this month.
- That I will make sweet memories with friends and family over Thanksgiving and Christmas.
